Principle

Staircase Design Rules: Clockwise, Odd Risers, Landings and Equal Steps

Stairs must turn clockwise, have an odd number of risers, include landings and equal risers, arrive facing North or East, and have nothing harmful built beneath them.

What it does

Keeps the stair current positive and protects health and business.

Where

Staircase

How to do it

  1. 1Make the stairs turn clockwise
  2. 2Keep an odd number of steps, counting risers (each time the foot rises)
  3. 3Provide landings; never one continuous flight
  4. 4Keep every riser the same height
  5. 5Plan the top so you arrive facing North or East
  6. 6Keep the stairs off the marma points of the plot

Cautions

  • No spiral or rounded stairs
  • No anti-clockwise stairs
  • Never a toilet, generator or bed under the stairs; a toilet there creates hormonal problems and unbalances the whole house
  • Unequal risers cause knee and back problems
  • Stairs in front of the entrance bring illness, mental stress and accidents
  • Build nothing under external stairs, and nothing under SW stairs in a South-facing house

Explanation and notes

The space under stairs may be covered with plywood and used to store unused things such as clothes and mattresses. The same rules apply in flats.

Principle

Which Planet Rules Which Household Objects

Planets act most strongly on particular objects: the Moon on white objects and liquids, the Sun and Mars on fire, light and electricity, Mars also on floors and land, Saturn on metal, dug land and machines, Jupiter on temples and the tijori, Venus on luxury objects and Mercury on TV, telephone and electronics.
