When a person with a debilitated Shani (Saturn) builds, small pieces of shami wood are placed in all four corners first and the iron (steel) is laid on top of them.
All four corners of the structure, beneath the iron or steel
Painting a school or study room in green (Mercury, intellect) and ivory (Jupiter, education) restores children's health and concentration.
School buildings, classrooms and children's study rooms
When a home suffers constant quarrels or illness, paint it pista (pistachio green) if the owner's Mercury is not debilitated, or white if the Moon is not afflicted, and add peace symbols and friendly element shapes.
Rooms where the unrest or illness is felt
The dehleez (threshold) represents the earth element; when the main door has been made at a wrong place, building a high dehleez stabilises it and balances the earth element.
Main door at a wrong location
The Moon (white) and Jupiter (golden yellow) together form the Gaj Kesari yoga; an interior with white walls and golden yellow carvings recreates this yoga in the home.
Whole house interior
Planets cannot be pulled down, but placing the metal, wood, colours and items representing the planet exalted in your kundli at that planet's own location in the house captures its energy.
The direction of the exalted planet
Royal interiors such as the Mysore Palace marked a brahma nabhi (navel) at the centre of the floor and hung chandeliers of sphatik (crystal) to raise the energy of the Brahmasthan, with colours chosen from the ruler's element and planets.
Brahmasthan (centre of the house)
Each sense works through one element: sight through fire, hearing through space, touch through air, smell through earth and taste through water; a weak sense points to an imbalance of its element.
Interior vastu is customised vastu: arranging and decorating the inside of a home, office, factory, temple, school or hospital according to the particular owner's horoscope, so that the nine planets, the three forces and the five elements are balanced for that person.
Whole building: home, office, factory, temple, school, college, hospital or industry
The universe is an ocean of prana shakti (life force), which reaches people in three forms: fire or light from the sun, air (vayu), and bhu shakti (earth energy).
The first principle of interior vastu: identify the element of the person, of the structure being built and of the activity done there, and make sure these elements are friends.
Any room or structure: bedroom, office, kitchen, factory, study table
The third principle of interior vastu: furniture, tables, the tijori (safe), artefacts and idols must sit perfectly level and in proper alignment so that gravitational force acts on them correctly.
Study tables, meeting and work tables, tijori, artefacts, floors and ceilings
The fourth principle of interior vastu: study the physical and chemical properties of every building, decoration and remedy material (metal, wood, stone, adhesive, paint) and choose them according to the owner's planets.
All building, interior and remedy materials
Vedic vastu says no more than two or three kinds of wood should be used in one house, while plywood is made from 7 to 15 kinds of thorny woods glued together with adhesives.
Furniture, doors and woodwork of the whole house
Bricks made from thermal plant fly ash mixed with sand and adhesive materials are wrong according to Vedic vastu, which likens ash (raakh) to shalya (an impurity such as bones buried in land).
Brick masonry of the whole building
Marble is calcium carbonate (CaCO3); homes with all-marble or Italian marble floors and no wooden flooring were found with sinus and bronchitis problems and, over time, pain in the knees, legs, thighs and back.
Floors of the house
Oil-based paints contain lead, one of the major causes of cancer, and act as a slow poison on the lungs.
Walls and woodwork of living rooms and bedrooms
A lion represents the Sun; if the owner's Sun is debilitated, lion statues at the main door or in the house bring ruin instead of power.
Main door and inside the house
The elephant represents Rahu, so elephant statues or hanging-elephant bandhanwar (toran) do not suit every home, especially where the family's Rahu is debilitated.
Doors, walls and any place where toran or statues are hung
Each planet rules a direction (Sun East, Mercury North, Saturn West, Rahu South-West); if that planet is debilitated, badly placed or very low in degree in a person's kundli, a house facing, bedroom, office seat or study in its direction harms them.
House facing, master bedroom, office seat and study place
The house facing, main door and common areas are chosen from the grih swami's (owner's) kundli, while each member's bedroom and study are planned from that member's own kundli.
House facing, main door, drawing room, kitchen, bedrooms and study rooms
Sunlight falls first on the walls and the wall colour reflects energy onto the people, so colours of the element opposite to the owner's rashi or kundli can ruin an otherwise good vastu.
Walls, furniture and curtains of every zone
Colour changes the speed of work: in a warehouse, the same labourers loaded goods from a red godown in about half the time they needed in a light violet one.
Warehouses, godowns, factories and work areas
Every trade belongs to a planet; using that planet's colour, shape, artefacts, paintings, metals, mirrors and glass at the business multiplies its energy, while a clashing colour can shut it down.
Shops, offices, factories and petrol pumps
A triangle is the fire element's shape; a main gate built as a triangle for an owner of the water element turned a large factory into an NPA.
Main gate of a factory or house
If Venus (Shukra) and the Moon (Chandra) sit together in a kundli there is domestic discord, and keeping their colours, statues or artefacts together at home increases it further.
Anywhere in the home, especially where artefacts are grouped
The North-West is the Moon's location; a big TV (Mars) placed there with a black horse statue on top formed a destructive Angarak yoga with Rahu, bringing accidents, fire and deaths.
North-West corner
Artefacts of enemy elements kept together block success; a lamp lit in a bowl of water joins fire and water and is allowed only on Diwali.
Offices, reception areas and homes
The puja room is made in the Ishaan (North-East) because it is Jupiter's location; its energy calms the mind, builds concentration and turns it to devotion.
North-East (Ishaan)
Space creates air, air creates fire by friction, cooling fire creates water, water over ages becomes earth (sedimentary rock), and earth returns to space; interior vastu follows this Vedic cycle, not the feng shui cycle.
The water element is shown by a silver or white half moon, its colour is white, its zone runs from North to North-East and its metal is silver; water bodies and mirrors represent it.
North to North-East; avoid the opposite South-East
The earth element has a square shape, golden yellow colour, South-West location and brass as its metal; land energy, plot shape, slope, surroundings, POP plaster and the dehleez represent it.
South-West
The fire element has a triangular shape, red and orange colours, South-East location and copper as its metal; sunlight, the gas stove, transformer, generator, kitchen and anything red or triangular represent it.
South-East
In Vedic vastu (not feng shui) the air element has a flag-like shape, green colour, North-West location and kansa (bell metal) as its metal; the main door, windows, balcony, garden, plants and floor-to-slab height represent it.
North-West
The space element sits at the centre, the Brahmasthan; its shape is shapeless or round, its colour black or colourless, and any vacant, open-to-sky area represents it.
Centre of the house (Brahmasthan)
Statues whose hands or legs are cut or broken should not be kept at home, otherwise accidents happen in that house, because images directly influence the mind (chitra se chitt).
Anywhere in the home
Paintings, carvings, idols, elevations and domes are made to change the mind (chitt) through images (chitra); temple interiors and exteriors were designed to balance elements, planets and forces and even to influence the devtas.
Interior walls, elevations and exteriors
A kundli shows rashis only as numbers 1 to 12 in its houses, so learn the rashis in sequence with their lords: Mars rules 1 and 8, Venus 2 and 7, Mercury 3 and 6, Moon 4, Sun 5, Jupiter 9 and 12, Saturn 10 and 11.
Each planet is exalted (uchcha) in one rashi and debilitated (neech) in the seventh rashi from it: Sun 1 and 7, Moon 2 and 8, Mars 10 and 4, Mercury 6 and 12, Jupiter 4 and 10, Venus 12 and 6, Saturn 7 and 1.
In the kundli chart the top (1st) house is East, the 4th house North, the 7th house West and the 10th house South, with the corners as the sub-directions; these directions stay fixed while rashis and planets move.
Every planet affects the house it sits in and casts its aspect on the 7th house from it; Saturn also aspects the 3rd and 10th, Jupiter the 5th and 9th, Mars the 4th and 8th, and many astrologers give Rahu and Ketu the 5th and 9th.
Yes. Water stored anywhere, including on the roof, represents the water element. But if the tank is built in a square shape, it moves to the earth element, because the square is the earth element's shape, and it becomes an earth combination.
Members of one family almost always have nearly the same planetary placements; there is a symmetry among their charts, and that is why they are born into the same family. In that case the Sun was badly placed in all four charts, so the East-facing house harmed the whole family.
Go by the houses, not the numbers written in them: the top house is the 1st house (East) and the 4th house is North. If the planets on the North side are strong, the North direction is very good for the person. A kundli can even reveal where a person's house is, where its door is, how many windows it has and where a nearby river, pond or temple lies, so a map of the house can be drawn without seeing it.
Primarily the grih swami's, the person whose money is going into the house, because the house affects the owner and his next three generations; do not go by the name the property is registered in, such as a daughter. The facing and main door are chosen from the grih swami's chart, for example North if his Mercury is exalted or his North-side planets are strong. Where a child sleeps or studies is decided from the child's own chart: if the child's Mercury is weak, seat him in the South instead of the North, following the 180-degree rule for a weak planet.
Decide room by room. In your own bedroom use the materials of your exalted planet and not of your debilitated one; your daughter's bedroom is designed from her kundli. The house facing and common areas such as the drawing room and kitchen are decided from the grih swami's kundli. Many people make the master bedroom in the South-West by default, which is wrong when Rahu is debilitated: such people suffered there and got very good results after moving to another direction.
The planets are still there even if the kundli is lost. A perfect kundli can be made from the thumb through Bhrigu Samhita, and Nadi astrologers also prepare it. A Prashna kundli can be cast, and Samudrik shastra (reading the body) also shows which planets are exalted or debilitated. Get this worked out by an astrologer.
Underground water movement 1.5 to 2.5 feet below the surface is not treated as directional, just as groundwater flows in every direction under the land; it becomes a dosh only when water is drawn up. So the drainage pattern itself is not a dosh. But a drain inspection chamber built at a wrong place and left open causes trouble, and dirty water flowing anti-clockwise has a considerable negative effect.
Possibly, but then its degree and the aspects on it, such as a benefic planet's aspect, would have to be checked. A house is built only once, so such a risk should not be taken. Retrograde (vakri) planets are taught later in the course.
No, the rashi plays no role here. The 4th house is North, the 1st house East, the 10th house South and the 7th house West, with the sub-directions in between. Real charts are then analysed, five a day from the student group, to decide each person's interior; the key is knowing what to do for exalted planets and what for debilitated ones.
There are only nine planets for twelve rashis, so Simha and Kumbh get no exalted or debilitated planet. A kundli need not have any exalted or debilitated planet, and some have as many as four exalted. The number in a house is its rashi: a 5 means Simha, so Venus there is Venus in Simha; an 11 means Kumbh, so Mercury, the Moon and the Sun there are in Kumbh, and with the Moon there the person's rashi is Kumbh.
Learn the twelve rashis in order and the rest is simple. If the Sun is written with rashi 1, it is exalted, very powerful, and blesses the house and direction it occupies. If the Sun sits with rashi 7, it is debilitated and very weak; if that falls in the 4th house (North), building a house in that direction ruins the person. Vastu without this is incomplete, which is why even a perfect East-facing house can fail.
No. The 4th house is always North, the 1st East, the 10th South and the 7th West, with the sub-directions between them. Like water flowing in a river, planets and rashis keep moving, but the direction a house represents stays fixed whichever planet or rashi comes into it.
From the chart itself: the number written in each house is its rashi (1 Mesh, 2 Vrishabh and so on), so learn kundli making and the rashi numbers. Once you start learning astrology, reading planetary movement becomes clear.
Yes, it affects the whole house. Just as dirt in one room spreads its smell through the air to the other rooms, an imbalance in one zone spreads to the entire house.
Yes. Sitting a lot in the South-East, the fire zone, increases aggressiveness and irritation.
Yes. The more electromagnetic current there is near you, the more it affects the nadis, the body and blood circulation, so keep the bed well away from switch boards. The minimum distance is transcribed as 35 feet, which may be 3 to 5 feet; check the class recording.
Adi Brahma (Adi Prabhu) gave each son a different knowledge: Bharat received arthashastra, Bahubali kaam neeti and Ayurveda, Vrishabhsen gandharva shastra (music and instruments), and Anant Vijay all the arts of painting, colour, brushwork and artefacts. Anant Vijay is therefore the source of interior knowledge, which he spread further, and Vishwakarma received the knowledge of vastu.
To change the mind (chitt) through images (chitra), even the minds of the devtas. Agni is regarded as a virgin goddess who feels shy on seeing such scenes, so lightning has never struck these temples, and the pleasure-loving Indra, lord of rain, is pleased and gives Khajuraho good rain; tribal women still plough naked under the moonlight when rain fails. The kings also wanted their heirs not to become ascetics.
No cement or adhesive was used: male stones were joined into female stones, an example of the physical property of materials. The temples were also oriented so that the sun's rays fall first at the deity's feet and, as the sun reaches the South-East, at another deity's feet.
Green represents Budh (Mercury), and finance and accounts belong to Mercury. Using the colour of the planet that rules the work strengthens it; even clothes and pen ink act as interior vastu, which is also why lawyers choose black.
To keep Budh (Mercury), the planet of intellect, alert: if the mind or concentration slips during an operation, everything goes wrong. Green also nullifies infrared rays and bad energies, so hospitals mostly use green, pista, white and blue.
Because the interior changes colours, furniture directions, tiles and artefacts without regard to the owner's element and planets. Often the colours belong to the element opposite to the owner's, artefacts are combined wrongly, or harmful adhesives, lights and lead-based paints are used. One client who spent 60 to 80 lakh on an interior saw his loans turn NPA and his wife leave; his whole house had been painted in the colours of his opposite element.
No. Interior is done to use the maximum energy of the universe, balance the five elements, control particular emotions and achieve a particular goal. Every painting, artefact, idol, colour and orientation changes the mind through images (chitra se chitt), so the interior itself can balance the five elements, the nine planets and the three forces of a home, temple or factory.
