Planet-direction rules for metals apply to items placed above the ground, where cosmic energy acts. Underground, minerals are not laid out by direction, so silver and similar samagri can be buried wherever needed, for example under every door.
In the kundli chart the top (1st) house is East, the 4th house North, the 7th house West and the 10th house South, with the corners as the sub-directions; these directions stay fixed while rashis and planets move.
As many diseases exist in land as in the human body. According to Vishwakarma Prakash, illness in a home first enters the land and only then the people; there are even lands that cause cancer. The Vastu practitioner is a doctor and surgeon of the land.
In the Geo Vastu system, the results of a property come 70 percent from land energy (the earth element), 20 percent from orientation and the main door, 5 percent from the interior and 5 percent from vastu protection. Land energy must therefore be checked first, because good orientation on weak land gives no result.
Statues whose hands or legs are cut or broken should not be kept at home, otherwise accidents happen in that house, because images directly influence the mind (chitra se chitt).
If Venus (Shukra) and the Moon (Chandra) sit together in a kundli there is domestic discord, and keeping their colours, statues or artefacts together at home increases it further.
A vastu dosh does not trouble a family all the time. Its ill effect appears when the related planet runs its dasha, mahadasha, antardasha or pratyantar dasha.
The shape of a door affects the household: triangular, cart-shaped (shakat), winnow-shaped (supa), bow-shaped, sun-shaped and round doors all bring problems. A door should always be rectangular with a full frame.
East is the ideal drawing room zone, North suits business talks and the NE gives peace, while the SE, SSW and WNW are poor; a room energised with crystallised quartz can work almost anywhere.
The drawing room is the place for exchanging ideas, so its furniture is set in a square or rectangle, the person putting forward his views faces North, the colours are light and windows give cross-ventilation.
Even an N4 door fails if it leans, has holes, stands at a dead end, is reached from the back of the house, or is obstructed by a pit, tree, pillar or T in front. Such defects (dwar dosh and dwar vedh) cancel the good of the pada.
An obstruction in front of the main door counts as vedh only within twice its reference height; for a 7 ft main door, anything within 14 ft is a vedh, and beyond double the distance it is not.
In flats and dense areas, a door facing the main door, a lift right in front, stairs going down in front, or the corner of another building pointing at the door all create dwar vedh.
Pits, wells, drains, poles, big trees, garbage, a road hitting the door or a long-vacant house in front of the main door each bring a specific harm, from disease to loss of lifespan.
The earth element is golden yellow, square, located in the South-West and solid, heavy and dense by nature; in a house it is represented by the land energy, the plot shape and the slope. Balanced, it gives the greatest stability and success; disturbed, it brings business uncertainty and unhealthy relationships.
The earth element has a square shape, golden yellow colour, South-West location and brass as its metal; land energy, plot shape, slope, surroundings, POP plaster and the dehleez represent it.
The East is ruled by Indra, its planet is the Sun, its gem is ruby (manik), its symbol is the vajra and its vehicle the Airavat elephant; in the Vastu Purush it is the mouth. A strong East brings production, talent, children's progress, health and immunity.
In the East, E3 is the best door with abundant wealth and E4 brings government support and respect, while E5 suits administrators only. E1, E6, E7 and E8 should not hold the main door.
East is the Sun's direction that starts creation and connects people socially, politically and religiously, so it is the zone of association and politics. Keep it open and clean; obstructing the Sun here brings trouble to the house owner.
With sunrise the sun brings its full energy into the East, filling flowers and fruits with sweetness. The East is the zone of social contact, used to build sweetness in relationships, and its perfect magnetic balance is why the face of the deity is kept towards the East.
In the last minutes before sunrise, cool fresh air comes from ENE and fills a person with joy, so it is the zone of recreation and fun. Everything allowed in the NE is allowed here, plus gym, meditation, play area, TV and home theatre.
The energy that arrives about 48 minutes before sunrise in the East-North-East fills one with joy and playfulness, so this is the zone of recreation and fun; sitting there lifts a low mood.
From 7:30 to 9 am the Sun sits in ESE and its rays churn (manthan), making it the zone of analysis, also called the anxiety zone. It suits wash areas, septic tanks, guest rooms, lifts and rooms of small children or research scholars, but not adult bedrooms, tijori or business counters.
In the East-South-East the sun, moving from infancy towards youth, gives energy that churns the mind, opening its doors and acting most on the Ajna chakra. It is the zone of churning (manthan), contemplation and analysis, and of anxiety if one keeps thinking without reaching conclusions.
Humans are made of four working elements, water, earth, fire and air; nobody belongs to the space element alone. Water and earth are friends, fire and air are friends, water and fire are enemies, earth and air are enemies, while water-air and earth-fire are sam-mitra (neutral friends).
The element friendship chart is also the basis of compatibility: two people of the same element or of friendly elements (water with earth, fire with air) keep a heart-to-heart bond. Compare the rashi elements of both before a marriage, partnership or close friendship.
In Vedic vastu the water element runs from NNE through NE to East, fire from East to about South, earth from South to before West, and air from West to before North. The space element sits in the Brahmasthan.
The elephant represents Rahu, so elephant statues or hanging-elephant bandhanwar (toran) do not suit every home, especially where the family's Rahu is debilitated.
