Vastu Poojan Rules and East Devtas Jayant, Mahendra, Surya, Satya, Bhrisha

Second class on the 45 vastu devtas. It explains when vastu poojan should be performed, who is fit to perform it, how bhog samagri is offered from Indra onwards to the 45 devtas and their 4 guardians, and a short formula to build any devta mantra from its name or element. It then profiles the East devtas Jayant (E3), Mahendra (E4), Surya (E5), Satya (E6) and Bhrisha (E7): degrees, 45-minute time slots, metals, symbols, colours, plants, fragrances, body links, room use, signs of imbalance, remedies and activation tests. The Q&A covers businesses linked to devtas, why metal strips fail to block toilets, opposite-devta drishti and how to mark pads on plots and flats.

Key points

  • 1Vastu poojan is essential at the start of construction and at griha pravesh, and also helps at the first slab, door frame, renovation, marriage, new job or business, childbirth and yearly on a swayam siddh muhurta
  • 2Only a person of Brahmin conduct (vegetarian, pure in mind, wearing janeu and clean clothes) makes vastu pooja effective
  • 3Bhog offering starts with Indra (E4), moves through all 45 devtas and ends with the 4 guardian devtas: 49 in all
  • 4Any devta mantra can be built as Om Shri [name] Namah or with the beej syllable of its element
  • 5Each outer devta has a 45-minute slot starting with Shikhi at 3:00 am: Jayant 4:30, Mahendra 5:15, Surya 6:00, Satya 6:45
  • 6Jayant (E3) gives success by any means, wealth from many sources and court success; a silver moon with a kesar swastik activates it
  • 7Mahendra (E4) is the king and administrator; elephant, vajra, lotus, cardamom and jasmine-mogra havan activate it, and a toilet there brings defamation
  • 8Surya (E5) rules time, leadership and the heart; Om Bhaskaraya Namah at sunrise, gold-vessel water, ruby and a salt-free Sunday fast strengthen it
  • 9Satya (E6) rules truth and justice; a kesar swastik on a banyan leaf stops lying and a person seated at E6 facing East speaks the truth
  • 10Bhrisha (E7) rules concentration and the kidneys; a dried coconut, white sandalwood and ghee havan ends confusion and a coconut oil lamp tests it
  • 11A defect at a devta pad shows up when bhog is offered: cracking tiles, or itching or heat in the linked body part
  • 12Metal strips do not block a toilet; a bad conductor on all sides is needed, and a swastik is never placed in a toilet
  • 13Mark the devta pads of a house on the constructed area grid and the gate on the plot grid

Offering Bhog Samagri to the 45 Devtas and 4 Guardians in Vastu Poojan

Bhog samagri is offered devta by devta, always starting with Indra (E4) and moving through Agni, Yama, Nairiti, Varun, Vayu, Kuber and Ishan through all 45, then to the 4 guardian devtas who protect them on the four sides.

When to Perform Vastu Poojan of the 45 Devtas

Vastu poojan is done not only at the start of construction but at several stages and family events; at griha arambh and griha pravesh it is essential.

Testing

Coconut Oil Lamp Test for Bhrisha Devta Activation

Light a lamp of pure coconut oil at the Bhrisha pad: if the devta is active it burns for a long time; if it goes out at once or the oil changes colour while burning, the devta is not active.

Principles and Rules10

Principle

Opposite Devta Drishti: Balance One Devta Through the One Facing It

Like the full aspect of Jupiter in a kundli, a devta casts its full drishti on the devta opposite it (for example Surya on Varun) and keeps it balanced; if one devta cannot be treated, balance the one whose full drishti falls on it.

Opposite devta pads, such as East and West

Mantras and Yantras1

Vastu Devtas5

Vastu Devtaजयंत देवता

Jayant Devta (E3, 61.875 to 73.125 Degrees): Profile, Samagri and Remedies

Jayant, the third devta of the East (pad E3, in the outer paishachik ring), is the success-maker who completes any work by any means (saam, daam, dand, bhed) while following dharma, and converts knowledge into wealth. Its door is called the vipul sampada (abundant wealth) door because the grace of the Moon on this pad is very strong.

Pad E3 of the East side, 61.875 to 73.125 degrees (East-North-East zone), in the outer paishachik ring

Vastu Devtaमहेंद्र देवता

Mahendra Devta (E4, 73.125 to 84.375 Degrees): Profile, Samagri and Remedies

Mahendra (Indra), the fourth devta of the East, is the king, sustainer and administrator who brings the energy of the planets, Sun, Moon and 27 nakshatras to earth and spreads it evenly through the house. It gives control over the mind and senses, right decisions, government support, contacts, name and fame.

Pad E4 of the East side, 73.125 to 84.375 degrees (East-North-East and East zones)

Vastu Devtaसूर्य देवता

Surya Devta (E5, 84.375 to 95.625 Degrees): Profile, Samagri and Remedies

Surya, the fifth devta at the centre of the East, lights the three worlds, destroys darkness and negativity, gives energy to all planets and never misses its time. Balanced, it gives fearlessness, good decisions, speaking power, fame, leadership, government support and perfect time management.

Pad E5, the centre of the East, 84.375 to 95.625 degrees (East zone)

Vastu Devtaसत्य देवता

Satya Devta (E6, 95.625 to 106.875 Degrees): Profile, Samagri and Remedies

Satya, the sixth devta of the East, is the son of Dharma and stands for truth, goodwill and justice; like a village panchayat whose members speak the truth, it gives fair decisions. Balanced, it makes a person a good judge and advisor; imbalanced, lies spread through the house and honour is lost.

Pad E6 of the East side, the 11.25 degrees after Surya, 95.625 to 106.875 degrees (East and East-South-East zones)

Vastu Devtaभृश देवता

Bhrisha Devta (E7, 106.875 to 118.125 Degrees): Profile, Samagri and Remedies

Bhrisha, the seventh devta of the East, is weighty and powerful with its own gravity; balanced, it awakens the nerves of the brain and raises thinking power, observation and one-pointed concentration, like a bird gazing fixedly at one point. Imbalanced, the mind gets confused, the nature turns dominating and kidney problems appear.

Pad E7 of the East side, 106.875 to 118.125 degrees (East-South-East zone)

Questions asked in this session

Which businesses and professions does each East devta support?

Shikhi devta (E1) is directly linked to Jupiter-related businesses such as accounts, banking and education, and supports big industries and factories. Jayant (E3) gives the most success in light-weight goods, plastic items and the paper and plastic industries, and the steel industry was named next. Mahendra (E4) suits people who need a job or service, especially government jobs, contracts and tenders, and Surya (E5) rules politics, administration and government work. A chart showing the business and bhog samagri under every devta was promised.

Which devta governs work such as consultancy, priesthood or judging?

Two devtas govern consultancy work (their names are unclear in the recording). In this class Mahendra (E4) is called the devta of successful consultants, and Satya (E6) the good advisor and decision-maker, with a court or justice room best made at E6.

About 11 or 12 of the 45 devtas are asuras. Whose energy should be increased and whose kept low to stay balanced?

This was to be explained in detail later, as there is a big confusion about it. Asura devtas are also needed: the day there are no asuras in your house, your work will not run, so the aim is balance, not removing them.

If a lift opens directly into the house, does it work as the main door?

A door is an opening with a threshold (dehleez) and a frame (chaukhat). Energy does come in through a lift, but only while the lift is there and open; when it is closed or has gone down, no energy comes from it, so it does not act like a proper main door.

Does the time of offering matter when worshipping the devtas?

In a full vastu poojan all 45 devtas are worshipped and offered together. When one particular devta has to be activated, offer its bhog samagri or do its jaap in its own time slot for the maximum result. An offering at another time is not useless, but just as food eaten at the fixed time of hunger satisfies more, the result differs.

Why is the colour of Bhrisha (E7) dark blue when blue is usually avoided in the East?

Where there is heat, coolness is given, and where there is cold, heat is given; heat added to heat burns things out and cold added to cold also ends them. It is like swar, where the cooling chandra swar should flow in the body while the Sun is up. E7 lies next to the fire (Agni) corner, so it was given blue.

If the main door combination falls in E7 with a cut (half door, half store) and a resident has had serious kidney disease, what should be done?

Such a case confirms that a defect at E7 brings kidney problems. Block that E7 door; the correction takes time, about a year was mentioned. The student also planned to apply the door power treatment taught in the course.

Are the symbols used in these treatments, such as the swastik, Vedic or newly made?

The symbols are taken from the Vedic tradition, such as the swastik, but they are designed with an added element that generates and spreads their energy, and the material they are engraved on matters. Each piece was to be shown physically in class.

Some devtas sit in the outer paishachik ring and some inside. Which devtas do we treat inside the house?

Your own house also has a paishachik ring. In a flat, the band along the walls on all four sides (about 1 foot in the example discussed) is its paishachik bhoomi, so mark it with the measurement taught in the previous class and treat the devtas there.

Some courses teach blocking a toilet from three sides. Is that correct?

No, it is wrong, 1000 percent. The top is left open and a wall-hung seat does not even rest on the floor, yet only the floor is blocked on three sides; at least 500 such cases were seen in Delhi. Metal does not block energy whether it is put on three sides or four, so no result comes. The toilet treatment itself is being done wrongly.

I cut grooves on three sides of a toilet, inserted steel strips and kept artificial green plants inside, but got no result. Why?

Metal is a good conductor, so it carries and spreads energy instead of blocking it, and blocking works only when it covers all sides. Metal should not be put into the ground for this. Use a bad conductor, just as the plastic cover on an electric wire stops the current from reaching you. Plastic pyramids and random items sold in the name of vastu do not help.

Most market products for toilets are metal strips. How should a toilet be blocked then?

Work it out from the principle, as with making mantras: first decide whether the energy must be blocked or spread. To block it, use a bad conductor that covers it from all sides; it cannot be done with a metal strip. The method was to be demonstrated practically in a later class.

Can a swastik or other devta symbols be used in a bathroom or toilet?

No. Every item has rules: the height at which it is fixed, placing it inside, never at foot level and never in a toilet. A swastik is never put in a toilet at any cost, and there is no reason to activate devtas inside a toilet, since that gives their place to the toilet.

Can doors be opened anywhere by vastu, or must the birth chart be checked?

Check the birth chart. If the Sun in the chart is debilitated and you forcibly open an E3 or E4 door, it will be wrong and not appropriate at all.

If problems are many, how many devtas can be activated at one time?

In a vastu pooja all 45 devtas are activated together in one sitting. A single devta can also be activated on its own with its samagri at its own time.

Surya is a god. How can it sit in the outer paishachik zone?

When the rays of the Sun come, they fall outside first and only then come inside. The devtas of the outer ring sit there for protection: they occupy the land on all four sides so that no negativity can enter.

After placing sweets and later chanting the mantra 27 times at a devta place, I felt strong heat in my body. Why?

It shows a defect or imbalance at that pad. When an offering reaches a defective place the defect tries to come out, as when granite tiles at one devta pad cracked during a group havan, and the body reacts. The uneasiness is a signal: the pad must be purified and activated with the method being taught (havan samagri, bhog samagri, mantra or the samagri to hang), so wait for the full method before trying again.

How far does the influence of a devta reach beyond its own pad?

As in a kundli, where Jupiter blesses whatever it aspects with full drishti, a devta also aspects the devta opposite it; Surya, for example, balances Varun. If you cannot balance a devta directly, balance the devta whose full drishti falls on it, and its gaze will set it right.

Is the time given for each devta only its starting time, or a full period?

It is a 45-minute period. The count starts with Shikhi devta from 3:00 to 3:45 am, and each next devta takes the next 45 minutes.

Should the paishachik, manushya, dev and brahma zones be marked on the plot or on the constructed area?

Take the centre of the constructed area and mark the pads from it; part of the paishachik ring may fall just outside the house. For a new building, do the zoning of the whole plot for the boundary wall gate, and the zoning of the constructed area to mark E3 or E4 for the main door of the house.

Which coconut oil should be used for the lamp test?

Use pure coconut oil of the kind that solidifies when it is even slightly cold, like the edible coconut oil used in the South. If that is not available, a blended brand such as Parachute can be used if it burns properly.

Is vastu poojan done only when construction starts?

No. Do it at bhoomi poojan or shilanyas, when the first slab is laid, when the main door frame is installed and on griha pravesh; the start of construction and griha pravesh are essential. Also do it after a renovation in which walls are broken, for a marriage, the start of a job or business and the birth of a child, and once a year on a swayam siddh muhurta such as Akha Teej or Gudi Padwa for a year of happiness and peace.

Who can perform vastu devta pooja?

Someone who represents Brahmin qualities by conduct, not by birth: a vegetarian of good character with a pure mind. A person who eats non-veg, drinks or does wrong deeds turns the pooja into a mere show. Wear the janeu, purify yourself and wear clean or new clothes.

Can we create the mantras of the vastu devtas ourselves?

Yes. Use the name as Om Shri [devta name] Namah, or the beej syllable of the devta element between Om and Namah, since every devta is made of the five elements. These short mantras are easy for clients and no less effective than the long ones in Samarangan Sutradhar and Vishwakarma Prakash; offering bhog samagri uses a separate mantra.

Are there 45 vastu devtas or 49?

There are 45 devtas, but 4 more devtas stand on all four sides to protect them, so basically there are 49. Bhog samagri is offered to these 4 guardians as well, after the 45.
