Muhurtaवास्तु पूजन

When to Perform Vastu Poojan of the 45 Devtas

Vastu poojan is done not only at the start of construction but at several stages and family events; at griha arambh and griha pravesh it is essential.

What it does

Keep the 45 vastu devtas pleased and remove many vastu doshas.

Where

The whole house, with an offering at every devta pad

When

Start of construction, first slab, door frame fixing, griha pravesh, after renovation, marriage, new job or business, childbirth, and once a year on a swayam siddh muhurta

How to do it

  1. 1Do it at bhoomi poojan or shilanyas when construction starts (essential)
  2. 2Do it when the first roof slab is laid
  3. 3Do it when the main entrance chaukhat (door frame) is installed
  4. 4Do it on the day of griha pravesh (essential)
  5. 5Do it after any renovation in which walls are broken
  6. 6Do it for a marriage, the start of a job or business, and the birth of a child
  7. 7Do it once a year on a swayam siddh muhurta such as Akha Teej or Gudi Padwa

Cautions

  • When walls are broken in renovation the devtas leave their place, so the bali pooja must be done again

Explanation and notes

By religious belief, when the 45 devtas sat on the Vastu Purush they asked to be worshipped whenever any auspicious or mangalik work is done in the house. A person who does vastu poojan once a year on one of the three and a half swayam siddh muhurtas lives that whole year with happiness, prosperity and peace.
