Pendulums are metallic (copper, silver, steel, brass) or non-metallic (quartz and its variety amethyst); a genuine, heavy pendulum is cleaned in salt water, purified with fragrant dhoop and given the intention to work with you before any use.
A beginner trains with a pendulum by asking questions whose answers can be checked, such as the name of the person in front or where a coin is hidden, until the answers come out right every time.
A dowsing L-rod is made of solid copper about 8 to 10 mm thick, with a short handle bent at one end; ideally it is cast on Guru Pushya or Ravi Pushya yoga with a little gold and silver, and it must be cleaned after every use.
A practitioner should know at least 20 methods of testing land energy, and the diploma teaches 25. They include the swar method (the change in one's swar on stepping onto the land), organic, inorganic, physical, chemical, biological, botanical, mechanical, water-movement and petrology methods, pendulum dowsing, nimitta and shakun.
A long, dry coconut with a heavy kernel is carried on a flat palm over the land; the hydro current rising from underground water, or from a mineral pocket after a mental command, makes it move, jump or dip.
A water-filled coconut is carried on the palm across the land; where it keeps moving and feels lighter the energy is very good, and where it stays still and grows heavier the energy is locked and not good.
A water-filled coconut is thrown at least 10 feet straight up from the centre of the land; where it lands, drawn by the land's positive or negative force, shows whether the land is good for living, for labour or for industry.
Walking a land with two copper L-rods in Surya swar, the intensity of their turning shows how energetic the land is; an anticlockwise turn marks a negative-energy element buried below, and rods that stick still and heavy mark an obstructed, cursed land.
A built-in scanner: in Surya swar the arms are spread wide and the palms brought slowly together; the distance at which a tingling current stops them shows the energy of the land or flat.
Holding two copper rods, the dowser watches them turn slowly as a person stands and moves in front; the distance at which the rods join gives that person's aura, normally about 18 feet for a woman and 21 to 22 feet for a man.
Commanded to turn clockwise for positive and anticlockwise for negative, a pendulum held over the land or over a chart answers whether the energy is positive, in which direction a vastu defect lies, and what will correct it.
A rudraksha bead, or a full 108-bead mala with three beads hanging below, is used as a pendulum; it is very good for land energy and for questions connected with spirituality.
Dowsing is a natural quality of highly sensitive people rather than something learnt; certain sensitivities, and a current felt in the hands while holding a rod, show that a person is a dowser.
A stone held on the palm while walking a land jumps where energy, ground water or minerals are present; even a heavy stone of 10 to 20 kg has been seen to jump.
A Y-shaped stick cut from a wood that holds much water, such as guava or jamun, is held in both hands and carried over the land; it twists hard where the energy or the ground water is strong.
The body is the best scanner: with the right nostril (surya swar) active, hold the breath, rub the palms and slowly bring the outstretched arms together; the width at which a resisting current stops the hands shows the land energy.
Negative entities attach themselves to the land energy and settle mostly where the South-West and West are low-lying. They show as the sushumna nadi starting to flow, a dowsing rod that stays still, a strong body reaction in the visitor and constant unexplained trouble for the people working there.
Check especially low-lying South-West and West parts of the site
Locates bones and other shalya (harmful objects) buried in a plot. A dowsing rod or pendulum turning anti-clockwise over a spot, or the breath (swar) shifting into sushumna while standing there, confirms that something negative is buried at that point.
Any raw plot or existing building, at the spot where the rod turns anti-clockwise
A yes or no question put to a prepared pendulum, such as whether to open a general store or which subject to study, is answered by a clockwise (yes) or anticlockwise (no) turn.
Dowsing is the method of making an unknown or hidden object known, whether in the ground or in the body. The person is the dowser; a rod, pendulum or coconut is only a bridge that shows the movement, triggered by the hydro and geopathic currents rising from the earth.
For the coconut toss test, should the coconut be water-filled or dry?
Take a water-filled coconut for the toss; the coconut thrown in the demonstration was water-filled. A dry coconut is used instead when dowsing for ground water.
In hand scanning and the coconut toss, when should the breath be held and when released?
In hand scanning, hold the breath only while spreading the arms; then release it and bring the hands together slowly without holding it. While throwing the coconut, take a breath and let it go as you throw.
Always with the pointed end upward, just as a person walks with the head up. A coconut has three eyes, a head and a tail, and it is the only fruit in which all five elements are perfectly present.
When dowsing, is the bone or water located where you stand, where your hand is, or where the coconut lands?
It is located where the pendulum turns clockwise or anticlockwise, at the spot under the hand, about an arm's length of one and a half to two feet from the body. It is not where a jumping coconut finally falls, but where the movement began.
Some dowse for water with a coconut, some with a stone or guava wood; which is right?
Any of them, because the dowser is the person; the tool is only a bridge, a medium in which the current produces movement. Some people dowse with bare hands, and some sway or tremble where water is. Only a person whose body reacts to the energy can check it; people who live in a negative place get used to it, like a worm content in a drain.
Trembling legs when looking down from a height, or a headache near negative people: are these weaknesses?
No, they are not weaknesses; they show the sensitivity of a dowser. Practise pendulum dowsing: ask your spouse or children to hide a coin and try to find it with the pendulum.
What can a person do who feels no vibration at all while dowsing?
Do nadi shodhan for six months; even then, not everyone becomes a dowser. At a training in 2021, dowsers from across the country, many carrying scanners and lecher antennas, could not find a single one of the bones hidden at five places. Practise with a coin hidden in the house or in someone's hand, and consider yourself a dowser only when the answers come out right about 2500 times.
Take the pendulum with all its precautions and ask, for example: should I open a general store? If yes, turn clockwise; if no, anticlockwise. If it turns clockwise, select that business. Do not ask the next question at once; dip the pendulum in salt water again first. It can also tell whether a running business will do well later.
Why do dowsing or energy scanning results come out perfect at some places and wrong at others, even when everything is done correctly?
The swar running at that moment decides it. Dowsing must be done in Surya swar, in its earth element; when it is done in the wrong swar the instrument does not move or gives wrong results.
In hand scanning, when should the hands be stopped: when tingling starts, or when the hands turn red and warm?
Stop where the hands stop on their own, when you feel some energy resisting them, a current connecting the two palms, a vibration trying to stop you. That distance is the aura of the land.
