The colours shown for each zone on the shakti chakra are the colours of its devtas, not of the element, and are not meant for painting; the air element of the North-West has both green and blue as its colours.
A basement without sunlight should not be used for sleeping or staying, a kitchen, a toilet, a patient or a locker; its entry should come from the North or East and its walls should be white.
Colour changes the speed of work: in a warehouse, the same labourers loaded goods from a red godown in about half the time they needed in a light violet one.
The fire element has a triangular shape, red and orange colours, South-East location and copper as its metal; sunlight, the gas stove, transformer, generator, kitchen and anything red or triangular represent it.
Every trade belongs to a planet; using that planet's colour, shape, artefacts, paintings, metals, mirrors and glass at the business multiplies its energy, while a clashing colour can shut it down.
Sunlight falls first on the walls and the wall colour reflects energy onto the people, so colours of the element opposite to the owner's rashi or kundli can ruin an otherwise good vastu.
Before any interior, fix the goal of the space, study the owner's kundali, check the current (energy) flow and base every arrangement, colour and artifact on planet combinations. Harmful yogas of the kundali must never be recreated with artifacts, while good yogas should be built.
Everyone is made of the five elements; a person likes the colour of their own element or of its friend element, and the exact shade they like matches the percentage of that element within them.
Wall colours and furnishings of the person's own rooms
Humans are made of four working elements, water, earth, fire and air; nobody belongs to the space element alone. Water and earth are friends, fire and air are friends, water and fire are enemies, earth and air are enemies, while water-air and earth-fire are sam-mitra (neutral friends).
All rooms, according to the element of the occupant
Choose the platform colour by the kitchen's zone and use ivory with orange for the floor and ivory with pista green for the walls and cabinets; the correct platform colour alone removes about 25 percent of a wrongly placed kitchen's dosh.
Use wood for stairs in NNE, ENE and East; green Kota stone, pink marble, Lakha granite or vitrified glass tiles in ESE, SE and South; yellow or Dholpur stone in SSW and SW; and white stone or vitrified tiles in the West.
The office colour is taken from the lord of the 11th house (gains) or the 10th house (work), or from the planet of the business itself, choosing the one the horoscope supports.
The drawing room is the place for exchanging ideas, so its furniture is set in a square or rectangle, the person putting forward his views faces North, the colours are light and windows give cross-ventilation.
Drawing room (swagat kaksh, the room for receiving guests)
Study room colours follow the zone, but education belongs to Jupiter, so ivory, golden yellow, green (Mercury) and white suit study, as does the colour of the 5th house lord when it is well placed.
Make the main door of solid wood such as teak, ideally with a little sandalwood, and carve auspicious symbols, mantras and floral designs on it. Energy takes on the chemistry of the material it passes through, so flush, ply, fibre and glass doors weaken the result.
The colour of the 9th lord, the lord of fortune, can be used throughout life whenever luck is needed, even if that lord sits in the 6th, 8th or 12th house.
Blue is a natural cooling and antiseptic colour that brings devotion, truth and respect, keeps body temperature balanced, and gives mental peace and spiritual growth.
Each trade has a supporting colour: yellow for every business, red for jewellery, chemicals, sweets and fire-related work, white for education, cloth and stationery, and green for health; black and grey only in small amounts.
The ceiling belongs to the space element, so it should stay white, or natural wood colour for wooden ceilings; red or brown on the ceiling sets fire to space and brings trouble.
The colour of a debilitated planet, or of the lord of the 6th, 8th or 12th house, should be left out of the home interior and not worn for important occasions.
When the Sun sits in the 10th house it becomes karak and very strong; the direction of that house should be painted in sunrise orange or light yellow-orange, never in blue, black or white.
Direction of the 10th house on the kundali direction chart (South)
Interior colours are selected in three ways: from the kundali (the planets ruling education, business, wealth and luck), from the element of the zone (its own colour or a friendly element colour), and from the work done in the space.
Ivory is a very light yellow. Off-white is often called ivory, but do not choose plain off-white; true ivory is a very light shade of yellow. It represents the earth element, which is why ivory floor tiles generate so much energy in a house.
The North-West was given green as its colour, but the shakti chakra shows it in blue. Why?
The colour on the chakra is the colour of the devta of that zone, not of the element; the North devtas are shown in red, for example, which is not a colour to paint there. The air element has both green and blue as its colours.
Can a bedroom be made at Shikhi (E1), and why should it be white rather than red?
Yes, a bedroom at Shikhi can suit elderly people, and it should be painted white rather than the zone's red colour, as advised for people of kapha nature and for those of pitta nature whose heat rises quickly. Shikhi is highly sensitive and already hot, so red would add heat and open the third eye.
Why is the colour of Bhrisha (E7) dark blue when blue is usually avoided in the East?
Where there is heat, coolness is given, and where there is cold, heat is given; heat added to heat burns things out and cold added to cold also ends them. It is like swar, where the cooling chandra swar should flow in the body while the Sun is up. E7 lies next to the fire (Agni) corner, so it was given blue.
If the colour of a small area in the earth element zone is changed, or an imbalancing item is kept there, does it affect the whole house?
Yes, it affects the whole house. Just as dirt in one room spreads its smell through the air to the other rooms, an imbalance in one zone spreads to the entire house.
Green represents Budh (Mercury), and finance and accounts belong to Mercury. Using the colour of the planet that rules the work strengthens it; even clothes and pen ink act as interior vastu, which is also why lawyers choose black.
Why do doctors wear green or blue aprons, and why do hospitals use green?
To keep Budh (Mercury), the planet of intellect, alert: if the mind or concentration slips during an operation, everything goes wrong. Green also nullifies infrared rays and bad energies, so hospitals mostly use green, pista, white and blue.
Why do some homes and businesses decline right after an expensive interior?
Because the interior changes colours, furniture directions, tiles and artefacts without regard to the owner's element and planets. Often the colours belong to the element opposite to the owner's, artefacts are combined wrongly, or harmful adhesives, lights and lead-based paints are used. One client who spent 60 to 80 lakh on an interior saw his loans turn NPA and his wife leave; his whole house had been painted in the colours of his opposite element.
Why does the colour of the kitchen platform matter so much?
Eye contact is greatest with the platform, since rolling, chopping and all cooking work happen on it, so its colour works on the eyes and mind. In a wrongly placed kitchen the right platform colour alone can correct about 25% of the dosh: ivory for South, South-East, South-South-East and West-South-West kitchens; light red lakha granite for South-East and South-South-East, used sparingly because red stone comes only as granite, which develops pin holes; yellow for South-West and West; and green for South-East, South-South-East, South, North-East and North.
Yes, the platform can be painted, but the type of paint matters, which is explained in the topic of paints, pigments and colours. Never use oil-based paint.
